Out with the same ole same old

Today is one of self-reflection
Thoughts uncorked.  Am I doing my purpose?  Do I love what I do?  What makes me the happiest when I'm doing it?  Out with the same ole same old and in with the new, refreshing, optimism.

Negative
The only negative vibe I have on my brain right now is why the heck am I getting so many job invites? It does irritate me that my information is spread around the big blue yonders of Twitter and Facebook.  I try not to be judgemental, however, it's harder to do when I get so many emails inviting me to be a Shipper or Receiver because my profile jumps out at them.

Savvy does
There is this really savvy recruiter with the last name McCabe that has caught my attention.  Brilliantly, he sends me snapshots of jobs he thinks I should apply for.  I've never connected virtually or otherwise.  He Am I doing my purpose?  Do I love what I do?  What makes me the happiest when I'm doing it?

Website delights
Or horrors depending upon which one you go on.  The people creating those forms are razzle dazzling the person with the wallet while they walk away snickering.  A sarcastic sense of humour with a superior knowledge, that is so relatable to the stats without any clue on how to do things like create, teamwork, imagineer creatively.  I could go public with the more excruciating ones.  The really savvy ones have already had me create a extended profile by answering the psychographics questions all nestled into the safety of their site.  One really really REALLY big BIG brand out of the US, which is known for its marketing ingenuity have already gotten answers from my test results.

I already had this done
Before I had set aside a website I had to go back and finish.  Then miracle by miracle they had an email address to response and attach Resume, references the old fashion way.  That is, before digital cartwheeling.

Act your job
I decided that a National Social Media Director of an internationally recognized brand had to have some jive ... beat of their own song, know themselves a bit more, and share it honestly and transparently:  So here I went:

Of note
That big gihumongous company just sent me a note saying I fit in their cultural mode.  Interesting.  Is that a reflection that big companies are trying to create a positive culture by hiring the right people who will work together fabulously?  Fascinating eh?  Oh, back to the application.  Which by the way, will hardly be recognized because Calgarians are known to consider outsides and bring in the best from afar, so they don't hardly look at someone in their own backyard.  Or is that companies that are failing in establishing strong culture?  For pondering more, I'm sure.

Good afternoon,

I am really happy that I stumbled upon your ad on Linked In.  It jumped out to me.

You see, I have been working actively in Social Media since 2010.  I was wondering what the fuss was all about, so I hopped on and happily formed a hobby.

The dream is to take all that great, juicy knowledge and apply it to someone who I can resonate for.

I'm a kind of results driven gal.  Does that make me bossy or pushy, nah.  I've figured out that the best way to get people's attention is with well timed humour, think deeply about meaningful things, blog about it, tweet a message, share a quote, pin an image, and just promote promote.

If you're willing.  It is a new adventure for Big Rock.  Can we do it together?  Let's decide when we meet face to face to see what unfolds:  having me as your National Social Media person.

I'm not completely a leap of faith.  I studied about demographics way back when I was at Western Living magazine starting in the late 80s. I'm particularly proud of one claim :: all awards, president clubs, aside :: I sold the outside back cover of the Olympic 1988 issue for Calgary Magazine's commemorative printed host for those Winter Olympics.  That was after the company I worked for doubted any one of us locally could sell one small ad, never mind the coveted position on any magazine.  The organization sought out an ad agency from Toronto.  See, that city has been the center of Canada's universe for quite a few years.  I learned how to collaborate, corroborate before "Team Work" was just important as creating revenue.

I would welcome the opportunity to be considered.  Kindly reach out by reply to myemail@email.com or my cell 000.000.0000 which you will likely receive a message.  It would be nice if you would suggest a few optional times for this momentous event.

To show that I am completely legitimate, I've attached my resume for you to gaze through and think of a few questions to ask me.  After you read through some things people have said about me.  Or, you can find me on Linked In.  (Or I could make it easy for you by including thelink). https://ca.linkedin.com/in/jeannette-marshall-4075a11b

Best,
Jeannette Marshall

Maybe there are myths floating around that we're in a recession.  Lots of naysayers around, not enough jobs, outta job.  Well, apparently great companies are looking for outstanding talent.  They cast out a wider web to find the best real fit.  For the direction of the company, who they want to be their Ambassadors, their voice.  So keep on trying to be better at who you are and hang on to who you want to be.  It isn't impossible.  You just have to focus a little big more.

Mystery Company?
Maybe I'll announce that company after I get the chance for a face to face.  Last time I did that, LOL (snickers out loud) I was called in to interview with one of the biggest, greatest technology companies of our time.  Guess who I go in to interview with?  A guy who managed a big box store, rhymes with Dome Peepo.   Another side story, that's me, definitely.  On my last real Goof Off day, I was in a mall and the store with the really big fruit was packed while the other had staff talking to each other to keep themselves awake.  I didn't say they were wrong.  I just wondered at the very moment after asked about him, good interview etiquette  by the way.  What was a guy who is seasonally oriented towards tools doing being the leader of a big technology name?  Earth to Mr. sounds like Yates.    Maybe opinionating is a worthy root for this blog.  I seem to have a number of topics I comment on.

Thank you
I thank you for popping in.  I enjoy having you.

Reddit is looking for new moderators for TVreddit @tvreddit as posted online.  I applied and want to share with you my application so that if you do deem worthy go and UPVOTE my stuff or that application to increase the likelihood of success.

Or simply read this commentary as I continue my quest to find my devine real purpose in life.  Is it writing or sharing content that people enjoy?  That is part of my journey.

This is what I wrote

[–]OptioneerJM [score hidden]
I am located in Calgary, Canada and am an active poster, blogger and social media enthusiast where I am trusted for sharing interesting content from afar and wide. Currently, my favorite on TV is CBC and CNN, followed by Game of Thrones :: I watch the news as my "reality TV" unlike "Big Brother" or "Survivor" yet known to watch "American Idol" and tend to buy iTunes as some evolve into a career. I work in Loyalty and Retention for a very large telecommunications company so I'm used to hearing people complain, swear toxicity, demand everything. This would serve me well as a moderator, which I have done on Linked In for a sales group (you can't get much more tempermental than that group can you? OK, maybe except politicians, creative artists and highly talented people can be.
You have me flagged as a BETA tester on reddit so I reckon I have some sort of brain that you've leveraged at some point. You even follow me on Twitter to @optioneerJM which is quite the nod in interest or strong indication of influence? ANDDDDDddddd Reddit drives some of the highest content to my Blogs than anywhere else; that is recently, and I've been doing this for 5 years as a hobby. Since I am online often, I could include frequenting as moderator since I'm floating around anyhow looking for something to catch my eye to share, comment on or dedicate a blog to as commentary. These involve social injustices, tragedy, inspirational good feelings stories, tech hints for the average being. Writer of what I know being mostly a sales winner, mother, friend or colleague with visions unfolding as grasping towards the holy grail of being in tune with what people want to look at, watch, or read. That is my super power. My other powers are instinct, humor, intelligence, humanity, gregarious personality or creating superbly shareable images with quotes ~ graceful or funny more commonly known.
Eventually, I would like this adventure to evolve into an income generator. Through highly selective advertising brands I will originally host with hopes that eventually they will want to pay for the spot.
I'd like a vision where my website or my blog will host its own advertisers or brands. Where I will control the ad content like Prince did for his music :: in harmony with word, images and knowledge these brands or advertisers will embrace.
Think of an environment where I control ALL the content, from the writing, to the images, music shares, inspirational quotes, advice and leadership, or all at once in a less cluttered symphony of digital reading glory. Where just being there will be the experience.
I guess I got long winded on the goals. To not, would be to avoid telling how this opportunity as Moderator would lend credibility online.

Go check out REDDIT.com and set yourself up.  You may discover some interesting content.  Even stories that have not even registered on Twitter or Facebook or any other social media platform.

Like YouTube is for funneling out videos, reddit.com is channeling stories by the masses, for the masses, determined of interest by the masses.  Where YOU can set up your own channel, where you are the moderator, determining what, who is on message to your vision or voice.  You can upvote what is spot on, settle down someone hath fury, or simply remove those that may not be "getting" your meaning.

reddit.com is a site where cultivating content is a given and choice.   Your clicks and keystrokes are like your old television remote, whether you flip through the channels randomly restlessly looking for something to catch your interest, or run to when you want to hear about something or be entertained and chill out.

I think there are a number of less obvious choices for serving your purpose online.  Are you looking for images and resort to Pinterest, then maybe you should be expanding on G+ (Google Plus) for wonderful images and beautiful photography.

With reddit you stay on the inside track on topics that interest you and where you rub comments with like-minded people.  Bearing in mind the rule still applies ....

You ARE the company you keep for sure but online it is much more.   You are what you read, what you share, what you like, and what you say (not how you say it in real life with a smile, a voice inflection that can be musical in tone or gruff with noise.

You are not the ego that thinks that because you are online, you can take it and use it like a blowhorn for any beef that you have.  With reddit.com you are upvoted or downvoted based on that climate you create yourself.

It's greater than relationship basics where bullying is not condoned while beauty expounds.  Where voice is replaced with lyrical prose captured by quotes or blogs or masterful images convey the message at one glance.

Time is limited.  People's attention is very brief.  Less than the 140 characters on Twitter, one tenth of a blink determines the destiny of the viewer:  to move on or click more and heavenly follow.

reddit.com is a judgement zone of what is going on, who is making it happen, and what we think.   Not based on our views but what our surrounding audience thinks.

Conclusively, I am recommending  you adopt reddit.it.  It is not somewhere that brands, advertisers or media can invade.  A cocoon of safety where you are left alone to think or decide for yourself what you think to emerge how you think.  Long before clicks being collected by Google searches or smartphone apps.  You can find an environment that can be quite secluded from all the clambering and noise.

Folklore, fact or fantasy?

Folklore, fantasy or fact?

Wow .... I loved sharing cool stories ... with my blog to be fueled with commentaries.  I think I'm developing my style and my voice on here.  What many don't know, and perhaps I didn't know until recently, is that these are the stories that capture my interest and draw me in for a little read or instigates the desire to learn about little everything that catches my eye :: like the "cloud" and I realize how I was in the leading edge of the cloud, about to fall off the MicroSoft cliff into lil creations like Adobe Photoshop .... which by folklore, in case you didn't know was another invention from a retired or departed colleague, scientist and innovator obviously saw a very big problem.

What was the problem?
Well, Xerox, had a very big problem.  Hidden behind fantasies and fact we should remember the folklore.
If you did a little following or reading up on Steve Jobs was considered one of his single most impactful discovery :: the "mouse".
What others may or may not know or never heard, but Xerox had and to this day has a very innovative center of excellence.  p.s. That is an elegant descriptive that escaped from investor-adverse term like R&D (Research & Development).
R&D had a really bad reputation.  Corporations reported on profits, and authored wording so carefully to avoid that word now.
Why?
Because in itself, just beginning to understand spreadsheets of data that MicroSoft created, I picture a guy having a scotch with a colleague, a neighbor, friends over a dinner party.
These people were pretty tuned in to what was going on around them from a technological viewpoint.
This was a time, in the late 70s to early 80s, when scientists, environmentalists started to electrify us with reports on doom and gloom if we don't take care of our planet.
As computers and printers began imploding because all of the great discoveries and creations emerging had to be printed on paper.

I remember those times.  I lived through those times ... but I was still not in tune with what was going on.  I had to hit a few walls, fall out a number of windows, but in this sweet spot I found a home : digital printing, document management, and file store :: the first hint of mist that would evaporate into "the CLOUD".  Really funny, sorta.  Xerox and MicroSoft were prolific, profitable and leading edge in the 80s.  What is amazing was that behind the scenes, companies like HP and dinosaurs called Attari were nurturing a duo of natural and expansive vision on the direction of aesthetics in printing and design.

A company with a logo of a fruit, was trying to solve a problem:  how do you create a world where 200 year old printing press with massive engines spitting paper in increments of thousands within just one of your eye blinks.  They recognized a problem with the appearance of printing or printed material generated from the awkward, mechanical, functional computers known on that day.  Steve Jobs and the other Steve :: yeah, the guy who created and then dropped out :: him!

It is a fact.  Steve Jobs attributed one very important truth about his brand of computers, that were synonymous together :: graphic design and fonts.  Of course, most of didn't realize how limited the machines, software creating most of the material on these environmentally poisonous inks lacked style.  I'm trying to remember the name of the predominate graphic design at the time.  Darn, I'll have to pop back in and edit later ... or maybe one of my readers who lean against both aesthetic design and functionality will remember?

So how do what sounds like a fantasy epic like Adobe, and an inventor in technology and a fruit like Apple have in common?

Back to the earlier problem of Xerox showing how profitable printers at speeds of light were going to consume the world of paper.  Ironically, all the stats were never showing that the mass of printed material was going to decline.  Why? Well because the products were going to get smaller OR MUCH BIGGER but the numbers of items would be be individually drastically lower in numbers.  BIG, MASSIVE signs and impressively designed items like menus could be designed in color, incorporate graphics arts with magnificent photography and you saw how this problem was going.

So Apple decided not independently, nor do I know if a folklore, that function, form and utility could be merged and expounded with incredible imagery and design.  By the 1990s, nobody could create an Annual Report, that would come out like symphonies of grace in not just the screen, but also in the appealing imagery and how words (or the industry types call text) flowed in and around this incredible design.

One of the most inspirational contributions was the mouse.  Probably back at the time it just looked like something you tooled around with when you weren't entering just text.

Well, this is the truth and Steve Jobs even admitted it as one of his not so hidden secrets:  that he ripped off Xerox with the technology, science and invention of the mouse.  Yet so many people that is a fantasy to believe that Steve Jobs imagineered the mouse.  You have to give him credit because he was solving so many problems all at once.  And if Apple played its cards right, it would create a language, a loyalty and a dedicated audience that would brave anything than to have anyone think that the MAC was anything but the most fantastic single contributor, cutting down massive hours of work, allowing customers who paid for printed material to have output to the most high quality caliber even difficult to be detected by the most revered premiere printers in the world (think "Franklyn Mint" ? )

So the design and functionality was joined at last.  Apple victorious over legions of won-over fans in the creative universe imagined and output to the devices that Xerox was still in development in Pal Alto.  Perhaps it is fantasy to think that they would have taken their eye off the ball.  Like technology.  Like talent.

Watching organizations brain drain is going to be a commentary at another time.  It is one of the most downward spiraling corporate philosophies that is going to burst the most healthiest bubble called talent pool or loyal employees.  These organizations have boasted so broadly on how they look after their customer, or then their employees.

Which is the GREATEST FANTASY:  that they care for anything other than their shareholders.

Back to the other part of this non-edited story is how another scientist at Xerox's Center of Excellence (or R&D disguised) left Xerox after I don't know how many years.  I don't know if he had imagined the problem or discussed it over dinner, drinks with their social circle.

This part I know as fact.  There was this big giant obstacle obstructing the progress of where design meets these great big powerful paper spitting machines on material that was soon diverting from the more traditional magazine stock:  Luna Gloss.  How even that word can still cause me to cringe to this day.

There was this big enemy or distraction from design and power, revenue generating machines that would make Shareholders really happy, and stock prices to soar.    The marriage of the two was hampered by one really really big (now, I sound like Donald Trump Canadian girlie version anyhow eh?)  THING:

The two could not talk!
Imagine me at the forefront of this explosive industry in its very infancy ready to collapse almost to mythical proportions.

Well, it shouldn't really be rocket science:  The two companies Xerox that built machines and Apple that was exceptional for designers did not have a language in which they could communicate.  Sounds like a merger of two conflicting cultures like EDS and HP (that's another folklore story or commentary I've been writing behind the scenes for quite a few months).

Back to the scientist who had left Xerox.  Maybe he'd invented the mouse and was really ticked off that he did not any copyright rights?  That could be an interesting story as a fantasy or fact as a commentary later on.

He lived in a place in California.  Don't ask me the name because I'm a one person personality army waiting to emerge as a social media voice!

Beside the place where this scientist lived, ran a brook along side his property called Adobe.  He named his creation after the brook beside his house.  How's that for fact that sounds like folklore?

So this genius inventor recognized how the two massive allegiance we so far miss-aligned because they could not communicate.

I was living those days.  Ha!  The sword thee doth yield.  (A little Cdn ShakespeareGIRLanese)
The biggest executives coming into our shop so that we could print their power point (OK, MicroSoft gets credit here, jeesh). They were about to hussle to the airport to get to an investors meeting in either New York or Toronto, it all started to sound the same:  problem.  Print fast, look nice, or nearly as nice as the generations old printing technology could.

Then there is the gestapo at the now dubbed digital printing company is telling this executive that he had to have a conversation with his designer because he/she had to create a separate file in a separate language, then proof it because often things jumbled around, accompanied separately with Font codes, graphic files and Images (photography) all had to go where they were meant to.  The executive's disbelief that the rumored in an instant, sparkly, crisp printed design over night was fantasy!

So what Adobe did was bridged the language between the Apple designs/computers and the print engines invented predominantly by Xerox could communicate in harmony and keep everything together until at least the last printed sheet on glorious Hammermille (instead of Luna Gloss that ripped apart during the process and was so thin that both sides were shadowed :: shudders).

That could be a new Blog or story line:  the life and trialing times of a print sales executive.

We know we all have called a photocopy a Xerox, as in "will you please go xerox a few of these for ..... please and thank you".  But the folklore of inventions by Xerox scientists are so behind the scenes.  It hasn't been really since Steve Job dying words were captured like information instead of confessions in his last authorized biography.  That story is one of the greatest salesman maneuvers of all time!!

Let's imagine examining what secrets were stolen or what technology borrowed to address a problem that needed to be solved either when it met near explosion so great that it could cause an implosion of profits, revenue and shareholders.

That is the true genius of the many greatest innovators.  There is folklore behind some that their greatest achievement would tarnish a few bazillion coins in investments if the real facts were discovered.

Yeehaw, that gets my creative juices going.  Uncovering and commentaries dedicated to the folklore or rumors from Silicon Valley by the giants of our world.  Now, that almost sounds like a NetFLIX special.  Hmmmm, someone who would appeal to both the Millennials and their parents :: will give it some thought and planning my goals on creative control.  (Inspired by the learning and knowledge gathered about PRINCE's true mastered gift:  creative control!
